Auto renewal notice to old email | Bitdefender in Dallas, Texas

So I changed my email in the Bitdefender central dashboard and my profile listed my new email and also that is how I logged on so why in the world would they send the renewal to the old email?? I was then charged $86 for another year which luckily I check my CC charges frequently- if I do not receive a refund I will dispute with my CC company. Its pretty simple- send emails to updated profile listing- wasn't a terrible product but I realize that I don't really need to pay for antivirus and I can't rec this company bc of their ridiculous practices.

I purchased Bitdefender a year ago for something like $15.00 - a very good deal. I totally missed that they would not only automatically renew my "subscription" but for $130!!!! They day they hit my bank account, I contacted them immediately for cancellation and refund.

BitDefender does not charge you 2Checkout does on top of this you can always cancel the subscription from 2Checkout or from your central.bitdefender.com. They will send you about 3 notification emails that your subscription is about to expire but will not charge you until the day comes.

I've been using BitDefender for many years not never had any issues with them. Also the customer service replies to all questions in less than 24h, so before bashing them how about talk to them 1st.

"Automatic renewal" is a scam perpetrated by many companies, including even magazine subscriptions. Thus, never pay for something with a credit card unless you have THOROUGHLY read what you are signing up for.

By the way, you can get good anti virus protection for free from a number of companies.

Don't let them tell you their paid product is superior and you really need to buy it. For most people, the free versions are quite adequate.

Bitdefender has recently renewed my subscription. I informed them that I did not authorize this action. Their response is that I had a chance to refuse the negative billing, but did not.

Bitdefender is refusing to provide a cancellation and full refund, even though I requested it the same day as their 'unauthorized renewal' of my subscription. I say unauthorized, because it is fair business practice to offer renewal as a subscription is lapsing, not require a customer to refuse it at the time of the original purchase. This is, I believe, called 'negative billing'. I thought something legal was being done about this sort of thing. They are trying to fob me off by offering a 50% refund. The new subscription has only been active for a couple of weeks. It is rather odd that you have a minimum word limit, don't you think? At any rate, I will blather on until I get there.

Avangate, the online billing company for Bitdefender, submitted an unauthorized charge to my credit card. Bitdefender is in no rush to give a refund. On 01/13/2017, Avangate charged my credit card without authorization for the renewal of Bitdefender Internet Security. My Bitdefender account indicated that there were 194 days left on the account and that the auto renewal was turned off at the time of the renewal purchase. Furthermore, several emails were sent prior to this transaction to support@avangate.com 1.) inquiring about the early renewal requirement, 2.) requesting assistance to ensure that the auto renewal was turned off, 3.) advising that I did not intend to renew and 4.) stating that I did not authorize any future charges to be placed on my credit card. The last email dated 01/11/2017 had the Subject titled, "Will someone from Avangate please reply"! I received no reply and my credit card was charged $79.95. I filed a Better Business Complaint against Avangate. However, they are just the billing company and can only submit a refund request to Bitdefender. Avangate did recognize their mistake and sent Bitdefender a refund request on 01/13/2017, with a carbon copy email to me. On 01/16/2017, I contacted Bitdefender to check on the status of my refund. Unfortunately, Customer Service (CS) at Bitdefender were not as helpful as CS at Avangate. I was told that the appropriate department was handling the refund request and that I may see my refund in 5 to 7 business days. Most people utilize internet security software to protect themselves against unauthorized access and use of their financial accounts. Unfortunately, Bitdefender does not properly notify you that they do not protect you against unauthorized access from their affiliates
